WATER RESOURCES ACT 1991, SCHEDULE 10 (AS AMENDED BY THE ENVIRONMENT ACT 1995)

NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR CONSENT FOR THE PURPOSES OF SECTION 88

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Schedule 10 of the Water Resources Act 1991 (as amended by the Environment Act 1995), that an application has been made to the Environment Agency by Tarmac Northern, c/o Wensley Quarry, near Leyburn, North Yorkshire DL8 4HD, to vary an existing consent to discharge from Ellerton Quarry, Ellerton-on-Swale, near Scorton, Richmond, North Yorkshire, by including a discharge of up to 3,300 cubic metres per day of process waters to groundwaters (the final lagoon) at National Grid Ref SE 2676 9720. The lagoon may at times overflow to a tributary of the River Swale at National Grid Ref SE 2672 9715. ( Note . This discharge of process waters replaces the existing discharge of process waters from Lafarge Aggregates Ltd, Kiplin Hall Quarry, Scorton, Richmond, North Yorkshire which has now ceased.) Any person who wishes to make representations or objections with respect to the application should do so in writing to the Environment Agency, Coverdale House, Aviator Court, Clifton Moor, York YO30 4GZ, for the attention of P Baker, quoting Ref 27/23/0009, not later than 1 April 2005. A copy of the application may be inspected, free of charge, at the local Environment Agency office at Coverdale House, Aviator Court, Clifton Moor, York YO30 4GZ, on weekdays between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm up to 1 April 2005.
