HIGHWAYS ACT 1980
THE A1 TRUNK ROAD (NORTHUMBERLAND AND TYNE AND WEAR VARIOUS LOCATIONS AND DETRUNKING) ORDER 2005

The Secretary of State for Transport hereby gives notice that he has made the following Order: 1. An Order under section 10 of the Highways Act 1980, which will provide that: (a) The A1 southbound exit slip road at Birtley Junction in the County of Tyne and Wear, a distance of 340 metres; (b) The A1 northbound entry slip road at Blagdon Junction in the county of Northumberland, a distance of 500 metres; (c) A route including the A1 northbound exit slip road leading to Clifton Village proceeding northwards and terminating at the Glororum Junction in the County of Northumberland, a distance of 180 metres; (d) The A1 northbound entry slip road at Fairmoor Junction in the county of Northumberland, a distance of 180 metres; (e) The A1 southbound exit slip road at Fairmoor Junction in the county of Northumberland, a distance of 180 metres; (f) The A1 northbound exit slip road at Warreners House Junction in the county of Northumberland, a distance of 330 metres; (g) The A1 southbound entry slip road at Warreners House Junction in the county of Northumberland, a distance of 510 metres; (h) A route including the A1 northbound exit and northbound entry slip roads terminating at its junction with Willowburn Avenue in the County of Northumberland, a distance of 260 metres; and (i) A route including the A1 southbound exit and southbound entry slip roads and terminating at the road leading to Lionheart Enterprise Park in the County of Northumberland, a distance of 170 metres; shall become trunk roads from the date when the Order comes into force. 2. An Order under section 10 of the Highways Act 1980 will provide that a length of trunk road situated between the junction opposite the Police House, at Fairmoor Junction, and the junction to Heighley Cottage, a distance of 380 metres shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be unclassified as from the date on which the Order comes into force. Copies of the Order and the plans referred to in it have been deposited at the offices of the Highways Agency, Traffic Operations, City House, PO Box 206, New Station Street, Leeds LS1 4UR, and Northumberland County Council, County Hall, Morpeth, Northumberland NE61 2EF; Gateshead Council, Civic Centre, Gateshead, NE8 1HH; Alnwick District Council, Allerburn House, Denwick Lane, Alnwick NE66 1YY; and Castle Morpeth Borough Council, Firth Call Castle Morpeth, 28 Bridge Street, Morpeth, Northumberland NE61 1NL. Copies of the Order can be purchased through booksellers or direct from government bookshops (The Stationery Office). The A1 Trunk Road (Northumberland and Tyne and Wear various locations and Detrunking) Order 2005 is numbered SI 1981/238 and is priced £3. Any person aggrieved by the Order mentioned in this notice who desires to question its validity, or the validity of any provision in it, on the grounds that: (a) it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, or (b) any requirement of that Act or of regulations made under that Act has not been complied with in relation to that Order, may apply to the High Court within 6 weeks from the date of first publication of this notice.
