NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR CONSENT UNDER SCHEDULE 10

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Schedule 10 of the Water Resources Act 1991 (as amended by the Environment Act 1995), that the following application (Ref No 233/1234) has been made to the Environment Agency, North East Region. Northumbrian Water Limited has applied for consent for the discharge of sewage in emergency (pumping station breakdown or rising main failure). The discharge arises from the pumping station which will transfer sewage flows from Corbridge to Hexham sewage treatment works. Consent to discharge, if granted, would include conditions requiring the provision of facilities to minimise both the chance of a discharge and the impact of any discharge which did occur. The discharge (Ref 233/1234) is into the River Tyne at National Grid Ref NY 9852 6428. A copy of the applications may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours, at the Agency’s Northumbria Area Office, Tyneside House, Skinnerburn Road, Newcastle upon Tyne and at Hexham Library. Anyone who wishes to make representation about this application should do so in writing to the Environment Manager (Tyne), Environment Agency, Tyneside House, Skinnerburn Road, Newcastle upon Tyne NE4 7AR, quoting Ref No 233/1234, not later than 10 September 2004.
