Notice is hereby given in accordance with Schedule 10, section 4 of the Water Resources Act 1991, that an application has been made to the Environment Agency by United Utilities Water PLC for a variation of the existing consent for Altrincham Wastewater Treatment Works consent. The application is to return the final effluent quality standards required to be met back to those previously required up to 31 March 2004, until improvement works presently underway are completed and commissioned or until 31 March 2005, whichever is the earlier. The standards to be met by March 2005, will be more stringent than those presently required. The application also seeks a reduction in the storm tank storage volume required to be provided at Altrincham Wastewater Treatment Works from 5,020 to 4,731 cubic metres to reflect the storage volume presently available. The fully treated sewage effluent and settled storm sewage effluent from Altrincham Wastewater Treatment Works discharge into Sinderland Brook, a tributary of the Manchester Ship Canal, at National Grid Refs SJ 7504 9044 and SJ 7504 9045 respectively. Any person wishing to make representations about the application should do so in writing to: Environment Agency, Authorisations, Appleton House, 430 Birchwood Boulevard, Warrington, not later than 11 June 2004, quoting Ref S/062/P/2004/V.
