PROPOSED “AT ANY TIME” WAITING RESTRICTIONS—VARIOUS LOCATIONS

1. Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Croydon propose to make the Croydon (Waiting and Loading Restriction) (Amendment No J7) Traffic Order 2004 under sections 6 and 124 of, and Part IV of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985.
2. The general effect of the Order would be to further amend the Croydon (Waiting and Loading Restriction) Order 2001 so that waiting by vehicles, otherwise than for the purpose of delivering or collecting goods or loading or unloading a vehicle, would be prohibited:

(a) at any time throughout the week in those lengths of streets specified in Schedule 1 to this notice;
(b) between 7.00 am and 7.00 pm Monday to Saturday inclusive in Denning Avenue and Coldharbour Road specified in Schedule 2 to this notice.

3. The prohibition referred to in paragraph 2 above would not apply in respect of anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or in certain circumstances, eg the picking up or setting down of passengers; the carrying out of statutory powers of duties; the taking in of petrol, etc, from roadside petrol stations; to licensed street traders, etc. The usual exemption relating to vehicles displaying disabled person’s “Badge” will apply.
4. A copy of the proposed Order, of the Croydon (Waiting and Loading Restriction) Order 2001 (and of the Orders which have amended that Order), of the Council’s statement of reasons for proposing to make the Order, and of a map which indicates the length of road to which the proposed restriction relates can be inspected until the last day of a period of 6 weeks beginning with the date on which the Order is made or, as the case may be, the Council decides not to make the Order, during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive at the Enquiry Counter, “One Stop” Facility, Taberner House, Park Lane, Croydon, Surrey.
5. Further information may be obtained by telephoning the Environmental, Cultural and Sports Services Department, London Borough of Croydon on 020-8407 6915.
6. Persons desiring to object to the proposed Order should send a statement in writing of their objection and the grounds thereof to the Order Making Section, Parking Management and Support Services, Environmental, Cultural and Sports Services Department, 1st Floor, Davis House, Robert Street, Croydon CR0 1QQ, quoting the Ref ECSS/PM/DS/7/D7 by 23 April 2004.
7. The proposed Order is intended to introduce “At any time” waiting restrictions at various junctions and between 7.00 am and 7.00 pm Monday to Saturday inclusive in Denning Avenue/Coldharbour Road. This is to improve visibility for motorists emerging from junctions, that pedestrians crossing minor roads can see and be seen and reduce obstructive parking so that turning vehicles have sufficient manoeuverability.
