NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR A LICENCE TO ABSTRACT WATER

Take notice that R I Stewart of Burthwaite Farms, Burthwaite Croft, Wreay, is applying to the Environment Agency for a licence to abstract water from a borehole in Permo-Triassic Sandstones at National Grid Ref NY 4155 4971 at Orchard House Farm, Burthwaite, Wreay. The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates: 4 cubic metres per hour, 48 cubic metres per day, 14,000 cubic metres per year. The water will be used for drinking and cooling and wash water for dairy farm. A copy of the application and any map, plans and other documents submitted with it may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours at Burthwaite Croft, Wreay, between 2 April 2003 and 2 May 2003. Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so in writing to the Environment Agency, Ghyll Mount, Gillan Way, Penrith, Cumbria CA11 9BP, before the end of the said period.
