TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990
The Secretary of State hereby gives notice that he has made an Order under section
247 of the above Act entitled “The Stopping-up of Highways (County of Tyne and Wear)
(No 3) Order 2003” authorising the stopping-up of lengths of footpaths in the grounds
of the former St Bede’s Hostel for elderly people, Lawson Avenue, Jarrow to enable
the development described in the Schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance
with planning permission granted to Jenkins Partnership on behalf of Enterprise 5
Housing Association Ltd by South Tyneside Metropolitan Borough Council on 14 January
2002 under Ref ST/01095/01/DM.
Copies of this Order may be obtained, free of charge, on application to the Secretary
of State at the offices of the Director Environment Group, Government Office for the
North East, Wellbar House, Gallowgate, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 4TD (quoting Ref GO-NE/02/5038/35/15)
and may be inspected at all reasonable hours at the offices of South Tyneside Metropolitan
Borough Council, Town Hall and Civic Offices, Westoe Road, South Shields NE33 2RL.
Any person aggrieved by the Order and desiring to question the validity thereof,
or of any provision contained therein, on the ground that it is not within the powers
of the above Act or that any requirement of that Act or of any regulation made thereunder
has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks of 7 March
2003, apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order or of any
provision contained therein.

The planning permission is granted for the proposed erection of 14 No bungalows and
community centre and construction of new vehicular and pedestrian access to land at
site of former St Bede’s House, Lawson Avenue, Jarrow, Tyne & Wear NE32 5AY.
