WATER RESOURCES ACT 1991, PART III
NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR CONSENT IN PURSUANCE OF SCHEDULE 10 (AS AMENDED BY THE ENVIRONMENT ACT 1995)
Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Schedule 10 of the Water Resources Act 1991 (as amended by the Environment Act 1995), that an application has been made to the Environment Agency, Anglian Region, by Anglian Water Services Ltd, for consent to discharge settled storm sewage from a storm tank at Spilsby Sewage Treatment Works, Lincolnshire into the River Lymn at National Grid Ref TF 4220 6456. The discharge would occur only when flows in the incoming sewers to Spilsby Sewage Works exceed 2,059 cubic metres per day (24 litres/second), due to rainfall or snowmelt, and then only when the capacity of the storm tank is also exceeded. The capacity of the storm tank would be 267 cubic metres. Consent for an increase to the current consented dry weather flow for secondary treated sewage effluent from 655 cubic metres per day to 858 cubic metres per day has also been applied for. The increased flows are due to growth in the catchment. Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so in writing to the Environment Manager (North), Environment Agency, Waterside House, Waterside North, Lincoln LN2 5HA, to arrive not later than 12 March 2003, quoting Ref AW3NF/125A (Ref 13646). A copy of the application may be inspected, free of charge, at the offices of the Environment Agency, Guy Gibson Hall, Manby Park, Louth, Lincolnshire, at all reasonable hours. The Environment Agency is committed to maintaining and, where possible, improving water quality. If, after full consideration of this application and any representations made by interested parties, it is decided that consent can be given, then conditions will be imposed to ensure that the effluent receives treatment before discharge to the receiving waters so that the above aims are met. If you wish to discuss this matter please contact Sarah Watson on (01522) 513100, between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm Monday to Friday. M Clark, Environment Manager (North) on behalf of Environment Agency, Anglia Region— North Area.
