SECTION 116, HIGHWAYS ACT 1980
NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR AN ORDER STOPPING-UP HIGHWAY AT BREAMISH STREET, NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne intends to apply to the Magistrates Court under section 116 of the Highways Act 1980 for an Order stopping-up the following areas of highway on the grounds that they are unnecessary: 1. Area 1—an approximately rectangular shaped area of highway on the south side of Breamish Street near its corner with Tarset Street, shown hatched and marked as points H, I, J, K on the Order map, points J and K being located on the western kerbline of the unnamed access road immediately to the west of Breamish House, Breamish Street; the area extending in a westerly direction for a distance of 13 metres between points H and J and a distance of 13.9 metres between points I and K and varying in width from a maximum of 5 metres between points H and I to a minimum of 3 metres between points J and K. 2. Area 2—an elongated, narrow triangular shaped area of highway on the south side of Breamish Street near its corner with Tarset Street, shown hatched and marked as points L, M, N on the Order map, points L and M being located on the eastern kerbline of the unnamed access road immediately to the west of Breamish House, Breamish Street; the area extending eastwards for a distance of 39 metres between points M to N and a distance of 38.3 metres between points L and N and gradually reducing in width from a maximum of 2 metres between points L and M to a point at point N. 3. The application is to be heard on Monday 7 October 2002, at 2.15 pm, in Gosforth Magistrates Court, Newcastle upon Tyne. 4. The effect of the Order sought will be to prevent all traffic over the land shown on the Order map which may be inspected, free of charge, at the Customer Service Centre, Civic Centre, Newcastle upon Tyne, between 8.30 am and 4.30 pm, Mondays to Fridays.
