PROPOSED AMENDMENT OF TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION IN CONNECTION WITH CHAMPIONSHIP TENNIS MATCHES AT THE ALL ENGLAND LAWN TENNIS CLUB, WIMBLEDON

1. The Council of the London Borough of Wandsworth proposes to make the following Order under section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985 and the Road Traffic Act 1991: The Wandsworth (Prescribed Route and Waiting Restrictions) (No  ) Traffic Order 200 . 2. The purpose of the Order would be to amend and continue the restrictions imposed by the Wandsworth (Prescribed Route and Waiting Restrictions) (No 1) Traffic Order 2001 which regulates traffic within the Southfields area on the days when a tennis event to which the public are admitted takes place at the All England Lawn Tennis Club, Church Road, Wimbledon. The amendments are required as a consequence of the enlargement of the Southfields controlled parking zone. 3. The general effect of the amended Order would be on such days to prohibit drivers from causing vehicles: (a) to turn so as to face in the opposite direction in the length of Augustus Road between Princes Way and Wimbledon Park Road; (b) to be left in any part of the roads specified in the Schedule to this notice between the hours of 8.30 am and 9.30 pm unless they display a valid temporary residents permit issued by the Council for this purpose; (c) to wait between the hours of 7.00 am and 10.00 pm in Wimbledon Park Road (between Church Road and Southdean Gardens); (d) to wait between the hours of 8.30 am and 9.30 pm in Albert Drive (north-west side), Augustus Road (between Wimbledon Park Road and Beaumont Road—except taxis on the authorised rank), Bathgate Road, Brookwood Road (from its junction with Elsenham Street eastward for a distance of 20 metres and from its junction with Heythorp Street westward for a distance of 20 metres), Elsenham Street (from its junction with Brookwood Road northward for a distance of 20 metres), Heythorp Street (from its junction with Brookwood Road northward for a distance of 20 metres), Princes Way (between Wimbledon Park Road and Augustus Road), Replingham Road (between Wimbledon Park Road and Heythorp Street), Queensmere Road, Thursley Gardens (north and west side only), Wimbledon Park Road (between Southdean Gardens and Pirbright Road), Withycombe Road, Woodspring Road and Victoria Drive (between Augustus Road and Wimbledon Park Road); (e) to wait on any restricted street within sub zones S1, S2 and S3 of the Southfields controlled parking zone or in any parking place in Wimbledon Park Road within that zone between the hours of 8.30 am and 9.30 pm; (f) to be left in any parking place (other than those in Wimbledon Park Road) within sub zones S1, S2 and S3 of the Southfields controlled parking zone between the hours of 8.30 am and 9.30 pm unless they display a valid residents, residents visitor or business permit appropriate to those sub zones; (g) to wait on bus stops or stands in any of the above-mentioned roads between the hours shown unless the vehicles are buses; (h) which are buses (other than those operating scheduled services) to pick up or set down passengers in any of the above-mentioned roads between the hours shown. 4. The prohibitions will not apply in relation to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform, a traffic warden or a parking attendant. 5. Copies of documents giving more detailed particulars of the proposed Order are available for inspection during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays in The Concourse, The Town Hall, Wandsworth High Street, London SW18 2PU. The documents will remain available until the end of 6 weeks from the date on which the Order is made or, as the case may be, the Council decides not to make the Order. 6.  Further information may be obtained from Engineering Services, telephone 020-8871 6547. 7. Any person wishing to object to the proposed Order should send a statement in writing of their objection and the grounds on which it is made to the Director of Technical Services at the address below (quoting the Ref ES/PK/TMO494) by 7 June 2002. Schedule Roads in which temporary residents permits issued under this Order would be required for vehicles left between 8.30 am and 9.30 pm Blincoe Close, Boddicott Close, Brookwood Road (between Engadine Street and Merton Road), Campen Close, Frimley Close, Galgate Close, Glen Albyn Road, Gonston Close, Inner Park Road (south of Augustus Road), Kingsmere Road, Limpsfield Avenue, Lydney Close, Mendip Close, Murfett Close, Penner Close, Sawkins Close, Smithwood Close, Swanton Gardens, Thursley Gardens, Tilford Gardens, Weydown Close and Winterfold Close. 16 May 2002.
