THE A1 TRUNK ROAD (B1224, YORK ROAD JUNCTION) (PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER

The Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions hereby gives notice that he intends to make an Order under sections 1(1) and 2(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on the A1 Trunk Road in the District of Leeds in the county of West Yorkshire. If made as proposed the Order will prohibit traffic from entering or leaving the northbound and southbound carriageways of the A1 at its junction with the B1224 (York Road) at Wetherby. The Order forms part of the proposals for the A1(M) Wetherby to Walshford Scheme and would only be implemented when alternative junctions have been provided. A copy of the proposed Order, a plan illustrating the proposal and a statement explaining the Secretary of State’s reasons for making this Order may be inspected at the offices of Leeds City Council Information Centre, Civic Hall, Leeds LS1 1UR, Wetherby Town Council, Town Hall, Market Place, Wetherby LS22 6NE, and Wetherby Library, 17 Westgate, Wetherby LS22 4LL. Copies may also be seen at or obtained by application to the office of the Director, The Highways Agency, 9th Floor West, PO Box 206, City House, New Station Street, Leeds LS1 4UR. Anyone wishing to object to the Secretary of State’s proposal to make the Order should send a written statement of their objection and the grounds thereof to the Directors address given above. The objection should quote Ref HA 41/7/102 and must be received no later than Tuesday 8 January 2002.
