LONDON BUS PRIORITY NETWORK—STAINES ROAD, HOUNSLOW

1. The Council of the London Borough of Hounslow hereby gives notice that it proposes to make the above-mentioned Orders under sections 6 and 124 of, and Part IV of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985 and the Road Traffic Act 1991. 2. The general effect of the Bus Lanes Order would be: (a) to prohibit all vehicles, except buses, from being in the area of carriageway (to be known as “bus lane”) lying within or adjacent to the length of carriageway specified in Schedule 1 to this notice between the kerbline of that road and a longitudinal single white line marked on the carriageway of that road; (b) to revoke and re-enact in a modified form the existing eastbound bus lane on Staines Road, Feltham on the approach to River Gardens, as specified in Schedule 2 to this notice to reflect changes to the offence of vehicles being in a bus lane. 3. The general effect of the Waiting and Loading Restriction Amendment Order would be to further amend the Hounslow (Waiting and Loading Restriction) Order 1977 so as to prohibit vehicles from waiting, or waiting to load and unload, in the lengths of street detailed in Schedules 3 and 4 to this notice. 4. The general effect of the Hounslow (Bus Stop Clearway) Order 200  would be to prohibit all vehicles, other than buses, from stopping “at any time” throughout the week on the areas of carriageway detailed in Schedule 5 to this notice and which areas would be marked on the carriageway by a yellow “bus stop” marking and by a yellow line within that marking. 5. The general effect of the Loading Places Order would be to designate a parking place in a newly constructed lay-by on the north-west side of Staines Road, Hounslow between a point opposite the party wall of Nos 397 and 397 a Staines Road and a point 23 metres north-east of that wall, in which goods vehicles may wait for a period not exceeding 20 minutes to load and unload between 7.00 am and 7.00 pm on Mondays to Saturdays inclusive. 6. Under section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the Council intends to provide a light-controlled pelican pedestrian crossing in Staines Road, Hounslow between its junction with Munster Avenue and Cranbrook Road. 7. A copy of the proposed Orders, of the Order of 1977, of the Council’s statement of reasons for proposing to make the Orders and of a plan depicting the lengths of road to which the Orders relate can be inspected during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive until the end of a period of 28 days from the date on which this notice is published in the Environmental Services Reception Area at the Civic Centre, Lampton Road, Hounslow TW3 4DN. 8. Further information may be obtained by telephoning the Environmental Services Department on 020-8583 4858. 9. Any person desiring to object to the proposed Orders, or to the provision of the pelican crossing on Staines Road, Hounslow, should send a statement in writing of their objection and the grounds thereof to the Director of Environmental Services, London Borough of Hounslow, Civic Centre, Lampton Road, Hounslow TW3 4DN, quoting Ref TP/DN/718, within the afore-mentioned period of 21 days. Schedule 2 Variation to existing bus lane operating between 7.00 am and 10.00 am on Mondays to Fridays Staines Road, Feltham, the north-west side, from a point opposite the common boundary of Nos 54 and 56 Staines Road, Feltham eastwards for a distance of 64 metres. Schedule 3 (Revocation of existing restrictions and imposition of no waiting/no loading or unloading between 7.00 am and 7.00 pm on Mondays to Saturdays inclusive) Staines Road, Hounslow, the north-west side, between the north-western kerbline of Wellington Road North and the north-eastern kerbline of Martindale Road. Schedule 4 (Revocation of existing restrictions and imposition of (a) no waiting restrictions between 7.00 am and 7.00 pm on Mondays to Saturdays and (b) no loading/unloading restrictions between 7.00 am and 10.00 am and between 4.00 pm and 7.00 pm on Mondays to Fridays) Staines Road, Hounslow, the south-east side, between the south-western kerbline of Wellington Road South and a point opposite the north-eastern kerbline of Martindale Road. Schedule 5 (Imposition of bus stop clearway restrictions “at any time” throughout the week at bus stops in the following lengths of carriageway) (a)  Staines Road, Hounslow, the north-west side, between a point opposite the south-western wall of Nos 1 to 20 Wivenhoe Court, Staines Road, north-eastwards for a distance of 19 metres; (b)  Staines Road, Hounslow, the north-west side, between a point 4 metres south-west of the south-western kerbline of Cranbrook Road south-westwards for a distance of 13 metres; (c)  Staines Road, Hounslow, the south-east side, between a point opposite the common boundary of No 287 Staines Road and Nos 289 to 299 Staines Road south-westwards for a distance of 19 metres; (d)  Staines Road, Hounslow, the south-east side, between a point opposite the south-western wall of Nos 392 Staines Road, Hounslow, north-eastwards for a distance of 19 metres. 28 November 2001.
