NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR CONSENT FOR THE PURPOSES OF SECTION 88

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Schedule 10, section 4 of the Water Resources Act 1991, that an application has been made to the Environment Agency by Persimmon Homes (North West) Ltd., Persimmon House, Holden Road, Leigh, Lancashire WN7 1EW, for consent to discharge sewage in an emergency from Hockley Lane Pumping Station, Whaley Bridge, High Peak, Derbyshire, to a tributary of the River Goyt at National Grid Ref SK 0106 8184. The emergency discharge will be permitted only during periods when the pumping station is inoperative due to electrical power failure, mechanical breakdown, etc. To minimise the likelihood of a discharge being made the pumping station will be provided with a telemetry alarm system, a stand-by pump, 5.3 cubic metres of storage, a mobile stand-by generator plug-in point and tanker access. Any person wishing to make representations about the application should do so in writing to Environment Agency, Planning & Customer Services, Appleton House, 430 Birchwood Boulevard, Warrington WA3 7WD, not later than 24 October 2001, quoting Ref S/031/P/2001. A copy of the application may be inspected, free of charge, at the above address during office hours, Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
