NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR CONSENT FOR THE PURPOSES OF SECTION 88
Notice is hereby given in accordance with Schedule 10 section 4 of the Water Resources
Act 1991 that an application has been made to the Environment Agency by Barratt Homes
Ltd, Wingrove House, Ponteland Road, Newcastle upon Tyne NE5 3DP, for consent to discharge
Sewage in an Emergency from St John’s Road Pumping Station, Mosley Common, Tyldesley,
Greater Manchester into Honksford Brook, a tributary of Astley Brook at National Grid
Ref SD 7157 0154.
The emergency discharge will be permitted only during periods when the pumping station
is inoperative due to electrical power failure, mechanical breakdown, etc. To minimise
the likelihood of a discharge being made the pumping station will be provided with
a telemetry alarm system, a stand-by pump, 7.7 cubic metres of storage, a mobile stand-by
generator plug-in point and tanker access.
Any person wishing to make representations about the application should do so in
writing to Environment Agency, Planning & Customer Services, Appleton House, 430 Birchwood
Boulevard, Warrington WA3 7WD, no later than 31 August 2001 quoting Ref S/042/P/2001.
A copy of the application may be inspected, free of charge, at the above address
during office hours, Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
