THE PROPOSED STOPPING-UP OF HIGHWAYS AT PICKFORD STREET AND LOWER EXCHANGE STREET IN MACCLESFIELD
(A) Whereas the Cheshire County Council has submitted to the Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions for confirmation of an Order made by it under section 226(1)(a) of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and the Acquisition of Land Act 1981 authorising it to acquire compulsorily for the purpose of securing the carrying out of development, redevelopment and improvement in connection with a bus interchange, supporting works to nearby frontages, and highway improvements the land and rights over land described in the Schedule hereto. (B) The Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions proposes to make an Order under section 247 of the 1990 Act authorising the stopping-up of part of Pickford Street commencing at its junction with Mill Street and part of Lower Exchange Street commencing at its junction with Queen Victoria Street in Macclesfield. If authorised the stopping-up would enable the revised bus interchange and associated (goods vehicle) turning heads and link road. Notice is hereby given that Mr G Baird, an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State will attend at The Town Hall, Market Place, Macclesfield, on Tuesday 4 September 2001, at 10.00 am, to hold a public inquiry into these matters.
