NOTICE OF PROPOSAL TO GRANT AN EXTENSION TO A PUBLIC GAS TRANSPORTERS LICENCE

The Gas and Electricity Markets Authority (“the Authority”), pursuant to section 7(5) of the Gas Act 1986, hereby gives notice that it proposes to grant a licence under that section to British Gas Connections, whose registered office is situated at Charter Court, 50 Windsor Road, Slough, Berkshire SL1 2HA. The extension, if awarded, will authorise the above-named to convey gas through pipes to any premises in the areas briefly described below and shown on maps previously submitted to the Authority. Areas: Old Croft, Cooper Street, Springhead, Oldham, Lancashire Herrison Hospital, Phase 4, Charlton Down, Dorchester, Dorset Phase 2A, off Minch Way, Petersburn, Airdrie, Scotland Hereford Drive, off Exeter Road, Claydon, Suffolk Green End Street/London Road, Aston Clinton, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire Tower Road North, Warmley, Bristol, Avon Pipering Lane, Bentley, Doncaster Forest Lodge, Beacon Road, Crowborough, East Sussex 10 St. Johns Road, Ipswich, Suffolk Rectory Farm, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire Glen Fyne Road Area 7, Craigmarloch, Cumbernauld, Scotland Orchard Close, Hilton, Derbyshire Grantham Road, Sunderland, Tyne and Wear Copies of these maps are available for inspection at the Office of Gas Supply at the address shown below. The Authority is of the opinion that the above-named applicant intends to carry on the activities which may be authorised by its licence under section 7 of the Act in the areas named, and that the granting of the licence will be calculated: (a) to secure that reasonable demands for gas in Great Britain are met, and (b) to secure effective competition in the supply of gas conveyed through pipes. Any representations or objections with respect to the proposed extensions may be made in writing and delivered to R. Legg, Office of Gas and Electricity Markets, Licensing Section, 2nd Floor, 9 Millbank, London SW1P 3GE, no later than 16th February 2001.
