NOTICE BY THE BANK OF ENGLAND
CALLING IN BANK NOTES OF THE OLD STYLE (MICHAEL FARADAY) £20 DENOMINATION

THE BANK OF ENGLAND, in exercise of the powers conferred upon it by section 1(5) of the Currency and Bank Notes Act 1954, hereby calls in on 28th February 2001, for payment of the face value thereof, all the notes of the Bank of England of the denomination of £20 which formed part of the series first in issue at the Bank on 5th June 1991 (as revised on 27th September 1993) and which bore an image of Michael Faraday on the reverse. By virtue of the said section 1(5) the notes hereby called in will cease to be legal tender after 28th February 2001. M. Lowther, Chief Cashier
