NEW ROADS AND STREET WORKS ACT 1991, SECTION 58

NOTICE OF SUBSTANTIAL WORKS

Three months’ advance notice is hereby given that the London Borough of Tower Hamlets intends to carry out substantial road works. 2. The street in which these works are to take place is Whitechapel High Street—Market Area. 3. The work is expected to affect the area of footpath known as Whitechapel Market from its junction with Valance Road to its junction with Brady Street. 4. The work is expected to commence on Monday, 12th February 2001. 5. (A) The area of work will be defined as that area of footpath from the kerb-line on Whitechapel Road to the backline of the footpath and the kerb-lines of both Valance Road and Brady Street. (B) The works notified will include new surface water drainage, the location of CCTV cameras, new street lighting columns, new power supplies to market pitches, new footway foundations and resurfacing of the footway in Artificial Stone Paving (ASP) or Mastic Asphalt. 6. Subject to the exemptions in the Act and regulations under it, no street works may be executed for a period of 12 months from completion of the works described in paragraph 5 without the consent of the said Highways Authority, which shall not be unreasonably withheld.
