TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990
NOTICE OF DEPOSIT OF PROPOSALS FOR THE ALTERATION OF A UNITARY DEVELOPMENT PLAN
KIRKLEES UNITARY DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Kirklees Metropolitan Council has prepared proposals for the alteration of the above plan. The proposals refer to land at Rowley Lane, Lepton, Huddersfield, site reference K8. If, and when, these proposals are adopted they will form part of the development plan for the area of Kirklees Metropolitan Council. The development plan forms the basis for decisions on land use planning affecting the area. The Kirklees Unitary Development Plan was adopted in March 1999 but the provisions for the site at Rowley Lane, Lepton, reference K8 were quashed by a judgement of the High Court dated 15th February 2000. The alteration to the plan now makes provision for the site in the light of that judgement. Copies of the plan identifying the site together with relevant documentation of the background to the High Court challenge, the transcript of the High Court judgement, and the Council’s reasons for showing the site as green belt as set out in a report to the Regeneration Management Board of Kirklees Council dated 17th August 2000, are available for public inspection at: Kirklees Planning Office, Civic Centre III, Huddersfield. 0845-1715 hours, Monday to Thursday and 0845-1645 hours, Friday. Lepton Library, 59 Highgate Lane, 1400-1800 hours, Monday and Friday. 1000-1200 hours and 1400-1700 hours, Tuesday and Thursday, 0930-1230 hours, Saturday. Objections to, and representations in respect of, the proposals should be sent in writing to be received before 5th January 2001 to The Head of Planning Services, PO Box B93, Civic Centre, Huddersfield HD1 2JR. Objections and representations should specify the matters to which they relate and the grounds on which they are made. They may also be accompanied by a request to be notified at a specified address of the withdrawal, adoption or rejection of the proposals. Only objectors whose objections are made in writing and arrive at the address specified above by 5th January 2001 will have the right to have their objections considered at a local inquiry or other hearing. Further information can be obtained from Kirklees Planning Services at the above address or on telephone 01484 221620, contact Bob Edinburgh. Notice of Intention to Adopt the Proposals If no objections to the proposals are received during the period given for making objections Kirklees Metropolitan Council intend to adopt the proposals on the expiry of that period.
