NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR LICENCES TO ABSTRACT WATER

Take notice that Tony Sik To Wong, of Herongate, Maiden Ley Farm, Castle Hedingham, Essex CO9 3AA, is applying to the Environment Agency for licences to abstract water as follows: (a) from underground strata (chalk) at National Grid Reference TL 784 346, Castle Hedingham parish. The proposal is to abstract water at 25 cubic metres per hour, 600 cubic metres per day and 20,000 cubic metres per year to maintain water levels in the pond and ditches at Herongate, Maiden Ley Farm, and to maintain the water level in a ditch for re-abstraction for spray irrigation purposes. The application is for a licence to supersede the expired licence number 8/37/21/G/78 without change to abstraction rates or quantities; (b) from a tributary of the River Colne at TL 784 345, Castle Hedingham parish. The proposal is to abstract water at 10 cubic metres per hour, 20 cubic metres per day and 5,000 cubic metres per year for spray irrigation purposes or to fill a holding reservoir for subsequent spray irrigation at Herongate. Abstraction will be subject to the simultaneous discharge of water into the ditch from the borehole. The application is for a licence to supersede the expired licence number 8/37/21/S/81 without change to abstraction rates or quantities. A copy of each application and any map, plan or other document submitted with them may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours, at Herongate, Maiden Ley Farm, Castle Hedingham, between 28th October 2000 and 25th November 2000.
