NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR CONSENT TO EXTEND THE EGGBOROUGH COAL FIRED GENERATING STATION, DISTRICT OF SELBY
Notice is hereby given that British Energy plc (the Company) has applied to the Secretary of State for Trade & Industry for consent under section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989, (the Act) and for a direction under section 90(2) of the Town and Country Planning Act (1990), for deemed planning permission to extend the Eggborough coal fired generating station in the District of Selby. The proposal involves the installation of flue gas desulphurisation equipment to two generating units, limestone and gypsum stores, conveyors, limestone preparation and gypsum de-watering units, tanks, absorbers, alterations to rail reception and associated development. A copy of the application with a plan showing the land to which it relates, together with a copy of the Environmental Statement discussing the Company’s proposals in more detail and presenting an analysis of the environmental implications is available for inspection during normal offic hours at the following addresses. Selby District Council, Civic Centre, Portholme Road, Selby YO8 0SB, (attention Mr R. Burrows—Planning Officer) and North Yorkshire County Council, County Hall, Northallerton, North Yorkshire DL7 8AH, (attention Mr P. Lawson—Head of Policy Development). In addition copies of the Environmental Statement may be obtained from Entec UK Limited at a cost of £50 (£25 to residents). Copies of the Non Technical Summary will be available at no cost. Any objections should be made in writing to the Secretary of Trade & Industry, c/o Zone 151, 1 Victoria Street, London SW1H 0ET, stating the name of the generating station and the grounds of objection not later than 19th October 2000.
