NOTICE OF VARIATION OF AMATEUR RADIO LICENCE (A) OR (A/B) OR (B)

The Secretary of State hereby gives notice, pursuant to section 1(4) of the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1949, to holders of the Amateur Radio Licence (A) or (A/B) or (B) (“the Licence”) that, from 8th September 2000 each Licence shall be varied as follows:
1. In this notice “the Booklet” means the Terms, Provisions and Limitations Booklet BR68, the terms of which form part of the Licence.
2. As and from 8th September 2000, the Licence shall be read and construed as if:
(1) the words “wireless telegraphy” were deleted from clause 1(1) of the Booklet and replaced by “radio telecommunications”;
(2) the words “wireless telegraphy” were deleted from clause 1(2) of the Booklet and replaced by “radio telecommunications”;
(3) the word “, Malta” were inserted between “Gibraltar” and “Falkland Islands” in clause 1(8)(c) of the Booklet;
(4) sub-clause 2(4)(a)(i) of the Booklet were deleted and replaced by:
“in the frequency bands or sub-bands:
70 MHz to 70.5 MHz
1298 MHz to 1299 MHz (not in Northern Ireland and not within 50 kilometres of NGR SS 206127 and NGR SE 302577)

(5) the words “3.5 MHz to 3.8 MHz (only between 00.00 hrs Saturday to 00.00 hrs Monday)” were deleted from sub-clause 2(4)(a)(ii) of the Booklet;
(6) the words “(not within 50 kilometres of NGR SK 985640)” were inserted after “28.0 MHz to 29.7 MHz” in sub-clause 2(4)(a)(ii) of the Booklet;
(7) the words “(not within 50 kilometres of NGR TA 012869)” were inserted after “144 MHz to 146 MHz” in sub-clause 2(4)(a)(ii) of the Booklet;
(8) sub-clause 2(4)(b) of the Booklet were deleted and replaced by:
“of a low power device to control apparatus at the Main Station Address or at a Temporary Location by remote control, in the frequency bands or sub-bands:

(9) the words “(not within 50 kilometres of NGR SE 302577)” were inserted after “50 MHz to 51 MHz” in sub-clause 2(4)(c)(i) of the Booklet;
(10) sub-clause 2(4)(c)(iii) of the Booklet were deleted and replaced by:
“in the frequency bands or sub-bands:

(11) the words “With the exception of sub-clause 2(5A)” were added to the start of sub-clause 2(5) of the Booklet;
(12) a new sub-clause were inserted after sub-clause 2(5) of the Booklet:
“2(5A) The Licensee may transmit on an unattended basis using automatic position reporting software on a spot frequency of 144.800 MHz at any one temporary location not within 50 kilometres of NGR TA 012869. The maximum permitted period of unattended operation is 30 minutes and the Licensee must be present to activate and deactivate transmissions. The maximum permitted power level is 14 dBW erp.”;
(13) the words “unless instructed otherwise by the host country,” at the beginning of sub-clause 11(1)(f) of the Booklet;
(14) the title of column 4 of the Schedule to the Booklet were deleted and replaced by “Maximum Power level in Watts (dB relative to one Watt) PEP”;
(15) the power specified in column 4 of the Schedule to the Booklet for the 0.1357-0.1378 MHz band were deleted and replaced by “1W (0dBW) erp”;
(16) the power specified in column 4 of the Schedule to the Booklet for the 1.810-1.850, 3.500-3.800, 7.000-7.100, 10.100-10.150, 14.000-14.350, 18.068-18.168, 21.000-21.450, 24.890-24.990, 28.000-29.700, 50.00-51.00, 144.0-146.0, 432.0-440.0 MHz bands and all subsequent bands listed up to and including the 248000-250000 MHz band were deleted and replaced by “400W (26dBW)”;
(17) the power specified in column 4 of the Schedule to the Booklet for the 1.850-2.000 MHz band were deleted and replaced by “32W (15dBW)”;
(18) the power specified in column 4 of the Schedule to the Booklet for the 51.00-52.00 MHz band were deleted and replaced by “100W (20dBW)”;
(19) the power specified in column 4 of the Schedule to the Booklet for the 70.00-70.50 MHz band were deleted and replaced by “160W (22dBW)”;
(20) the power specified in column 4 of the Schedule to the Booklet for the 430.0-432.0 MHz band were deleted and replaced by “40W (16dBW) erp”;
(21) the bands “10225-10475 MHz and 10450-10500 MHz were deleted from the Schedule to the Booklet and replaced by:

(22) the final sentence in Note (h) to the Booklet were deleted and replaced by “Except as specifically authorised in writing by the Secretary of State, the Licensee may not permit the automatic reception and or transmission of messages between the amateur radio service operated in accordance with section 1 of the Act and other telecommunications networks.”;
(23) the number “24” were deleted from Note (u) to the Booklet and replaced by “S14”;
(24) the words “Article 25 of the Radio Regulations (Regulations 2071 to 2075) were deleted from Note (x) to the Booklet and replaced by “Article S19 of the Radio Regulations (S19.18-S19.22)”;
(25) note (aa) to the Booklet were deleted; and
(26) note (bb) to the Booklet were re-numbered.
