THE DEVON COUNTY COUNCIL (YEO BRIDGE, BARNSTAPLE) SCHEME 1999

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions hereby gives notice that he has confirmed with modifications the above-named Scheme which was made by the Devon County Council, under section 106(3) of the Highways Act 1980, and which, as confirmed, authorises the Council to construct over the navigable waters of the River Yeo at Barnstaple, in the district of Barnstaple, in the county of Devon, the bridge (in this Scheme called “Yeo Bridge, Barnstaple”), specified in the Schedule to this Scheme as part of the highway which they are proposing to construct between a point 280 metres west of the River Yeo and Commercial Road, in the borough of Barnstaple in the said county.
Copies of the Scheme (as confirmed) and of the relevant plans and specifications may be inspected at all reasonable hours, free of charge, at the offices of the North Devon District Council, Civic Centre, Barnstaple, Devon; and the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions, Wellbar House, Gallowgate, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Copies of the Instrument of Confirmation of the Scheme, which is entitled “The Devon County Council (Yeo Bridge, Barnstaple) Scheme 1999 Confirmation Instrument 2000” and which contains a copy of the Scheme as confirmed, can be purchased, price £3 SI No. 1356, either through booksellers or direct from Government bookshops (The Stationery Office).
Any person aggrieved by the Scheme and desiring to question the validity thereof, or of any provision contained therein, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, or on the ground that any requirement of that Act, or of any regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Scheme, may, within 6 weeks of 1st June 2000, apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Scheme or of any provision contained therein.
