ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984, SECTION 84
THE A316 TRUNK ROAD (HANWORTH ROAD, COUNTRY WAY AND GREAT CHERTSEY ROAD, HOUNSLOW AND SPELTHORNE) (SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 2000
The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions hereby gives
notice that on 23rd May 2000, he made the above-named Order, the effect of which is
to impose speed limits of:
(a) 40 miles per hour on: the A316 Great Chertsey Road between a point 230 metres
east of the A312 Hampton Road roundabout and a point 150 west of the B358 Hospital
Bridge Road roundabout, a distance of approximately 712 metres; the westbound exit
slip road linking the Great Chertsey Road with the A312 Hampton Road roundabout, a
distance of approximately 216 metres; the eastbound entry slip road linking the A312
Hampton Road roundabout to the Great Chertsey Road, a distance of approximately 228
metres;
(b) 50 miles per hour on: the A316 Hanworth Road, Country Way and Great Chertsey
Road from its junction with the M3 motorway to a point 230 metres east of the A312
Hampton Road roundabout including the entry and exit slip roads on both the east and
westbound carriageways, except the westbound exit slip road linking the Great Chertsey
Road to the A312 Hampton Road roundabout and the eastbound entry slip linking the
A312 Hampton Road roundabout to the Great Chertsey Road, a distance of approximately
3.8 kilometres.
A copy of the Order, plans which illustrates its effect and a statement of the Secretary
of State’s reasons for proposing the Order have been deposited at the offices of the
Highways Agency, Room 5/31, St. Christopher House, Southwark Street, London SE1 0TE,
where they may be inspected between 9.30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays inclusive,
excepting bank holidays and at the following libraries during normal library opening
hours until 7th July 2000: Hounslow Library, Treaty Centre, High Street, Hounslow,
Middlesex TW3 1ES; Richmond Library, Old Town Hall, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-upon-Thames
TW9 1TP; Sunbury Library, The Parade, Staines Road West, Sunbury-on-Thames, Middlesex
TW16 7AB.
Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions
on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation
Act 1984, or that a requirement of that Act or of any relevant regulations made thereunder
has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks of the date on which the Order was
made, make an application for the purpose to the High Court.
