TRAFFIC REGULATION DURING BOAT RACES ON THE THAMES AT PUTNEY IN 2000 AND 2001
Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Wandsworth, with
the agreement of the Council of the London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames, on 22nd
February 2000, made the following Order under section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation
Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985: The Wandsworth and Richmond
(Prescribed Routes) (No. 1) Traffic Order 2000. 2. The Order will facilitate the regulation
of vehicular and pedestrian traffic in connection with the holding of the Universities
Boat Race and other races on the River Thames during 2000 and 2001. 3. The general
effect of the Order will be to: (a) impose one-way working for vehicles in the roads
specified in Schedule 1 to this notice; (b) prohibit vehicles from entering the roads
specified in Schedule 2 to this notice at their junctions with Lower Richmond Road
(unless otherwise specified); (c) prohibit vehicles and pedestrians from entering
the roads specified in Schedule 3 to this notice. 4. The prohibitions referred to
in paragraph 2 above will apply on the following dates between the hours of 7 a.m.
and midnight: Saturday, 4th March 2000, Thursday, 16th March 2000, Saturday, 18th
March 2000, Sunday, 19th March 2000, Saturday, 25th March 2000, Saturday, 15th April
2000, Saturday, 7th October 2000, Saturday, 4th November 2000, Saturday, 3rd March
2001, Saturday, 10th March 2001, Saturday, 17th March 2001, Sunday, 18th March 2001,
Monday, 19th March 2001, Saturday, 24th March 2001, Saturday, 31st March 2001, Saturday,
10th November 2001. 5. The prohibitions will not apply in relation to anything done
with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform and will
only apply at such times as are indicated by traffic signs. 6. A copy of the Order,
which will come into operation on 4th March 2000, and of documents giving more detailed
particulars of the Order, can be inspected during normal office hours on Mondays to
Fridays inclusive, until the end of 6 weeks from the date on which the Order was made,
in The Concourse, The Town Hall, Wandsworth High Street, London SW18 2PU. 7. Copies
of the Order may be obtained from Engineering Services, Department of Technical Services,
at the address given below (telephone 020 8871 6660). 8. Any person desiring to question
the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that
it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that
any of the relevant requirements of that Act or of any relevant regulations made under
that Act have not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks
from the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the
