STOPPING-UP OF HIGHWAYS AT EAST GATESHEAD AREA, GATESHEAD

Notice is hereby given that the Borough Council of Gateshead intend to apply to the Gateshead Petty Sessional Division sitting at the Magistrates’ Court, Warwick Street, Gateshead, on 7th March 2000, at approximately 2 p.m., for an Order authorising the stopping-up of various highways in the East Gateshead Area of Gateshead as being unnecessary for highway purposes. The lengths of highways proposed to be stopped up are: A length of Nixon Street commencing at its junction with Greenwich Place and Beckett Street and extending in a westerly direction for approximately 33 metres. Greenwich Place, commencing at its junction with Nixon Street and Beckett Street and extending in a north-easterly direction for approximately 55 metres. Beckett Street commencing at its junction with Nixon Street and Greenwich Place and extending in a south-easterly direction for approximately 83 metres. Hawks Street commencing at its junction with Beckett Street and extending generally in a northerly direction for approximately 80 metres. An unnamed footpath, commencing at the junction of Beckett Street and Hawks Street and extending generally in a northerly direction for approximately 80 metres. An area of footpath and highway verge of approximately 224 square metres lying adjacent to the north-west side of the eastern end of Greenwich Place. An area of footpath and highway verge of approximately 224 square metres lying adjacent to the south-west side of the eastern end of Greenwich Place. An unnamed footpath commencing at its junction with Nixon Street (30 metres from its junction with Beckett Street and Greenwich Place) and extending in a south-westerly direction for approximately 73 metres, terminating at its junction with Hawks Street. An unnamed footpath, commencing at its junction with Saltmeadows Road extending generally in a westerly direction for approximately 165 metres and terminating at an unnamed footpath running between Beckett Street and Greenwich Place. An unnamed footpath, extending from the east side of the southern end of Beckett Street generally in a south-easterly direction for approximately 65 metres terminating at its junction with Albany Road. An unnamed path extending from the west side of the southern end of Beckett Street generally in a south-easterly direction for approximately 25 metres terminating at its junction with an unnamed footpath lying between the east side of the southern end of Beckett Street and Albany Road. An unnamed path extending from a car park entrance on Albany Road generally in a north-easterly direction for approximately 75 metres terminating at the car park boundary of warehouses on Saltmeadows Road. A plan showing the area of highway to be stopped up is deposited at the office of the Director of Legal and Administrative Services, Civic Centre, Regent Street, Gateshead, and may be inspected during normal office hours. On the hearing of the application any person who would be aggrieved by the making of the Order shall have the right to be heard. R. M.
