ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
THE A5 TRUNK ROAD (WATLING STREET, CHALK HILL, DUNSTABLE, BEDFORDSHIRE) (40 MILES PER HOUR SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 199 

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Region, hereby gives notice that he proposes to make an Order under sections 84(1) and (2) of, and paragraph 27(1) of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, on a length of the A5 Trunk Road (known as Watling Street) at Chalk Hill in Dunstable, Bedfordshire. The effect of the Order would be to remove the de-restricted status of the length of the trunk road between points 325 metres south-east of its junction with the A505 Leighton Linslade Bypass and 45 metres north-west of its junction with French’s Avenue, by varying The Trunk Road (A5) (Bedfordshire) (Various Roads) (De-restriction) Order 1984, and impose a 40 m.p.h. speed limit on that length, a distance of 1,101 metres. A copy of the draft Order, together with an illustrative plan, a copy of the Order to be varied and a statement explaining the reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be inspected during normal office hours at the offices of South Bedfordshire District Council, The District Offices, High Street North, Dunstable, Bedfordshire; Thorburn Colquhoun Consulting Engineers, 200 Harpur Centre, Horne Lane, Bedford; or obtained by application to the Highways Agency, Project Services Secretariat, Heron House, 49-53 Goldington Road, Bedford MK40 3LL, quoting Ref. HA 28/2/53. Any person wishing to object to the proposed Order should write to the Highways Agency at the above address stating the grounds of objection no later than 10th January 2000.
