THE RAILWAYS ACT 1993

Application for Licence Exemption by: The North Tyneside Council (“the Applicant”) Principal address of the Applicant: North Tyneside Council, PO Box 113, Station Road, Killingworth, Newcastle-upon-Tyne NE12 6WJ. The Rail Regulator hereby gives notice in accordance with section 7(4) of the Railways Act 1993 that he proposes to grant the Applicant an exemption from the requirement to be authorised by licence to operate the network which the Applicant proposes to operate, as an extension to its existing network, between points at Ordnance Survey National Grid reference points NZ 433 537 567 429 and NZ 433 465 567 010 in the Metropolitan Borough of North Tyneside, and from any requirement to hold a station licence or a light maintenance depot licence in respect of a station or depot operated in connection with that network and a train operators licence in respect of a train being used on that network on the grounds that the Applicant is proposing to operate a preserved railway, and that it is therefore not appropriate for the licensing provisions of the Railways Act to be applied to it. Any person who wishes to make any representation or objection with respect to the proposed exemption should send such representation or objection to Andrew John McConnell, Licensing and Standards Team, Directorate of Regulation, Office of the Rail Regulator, 1 Waterhouse Square, 138-142 Holborn, London EC1N 2TQ, not later than 18th January 2000. A plan showing the extent of the railway to which the proposed network licence exemption applies is available for inspection at the above address betwewen 1000 and 1600 hours on any working day. T. Winsor 21st December 1999.
