APPLICATION FOR ORDERS AUTHORISING THE STOPPING-UP OF SECTIONS OF FOOTWAY OF PORTLAND STREET, MANCHESTER CITY CENTRE

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the City of Manchester, intend to apply to the Magistrates’ Court sitting at the Court House, Crown Square, Manchester on Thursday, 11th November 1999, at 2 p.m. for Orders under section 116 of the Highways Act 1980 authorising the stopping-up of the highways specified hereto on the grounds that they are unnecessary.
A plan showing the said highways may be inspected, without payment at my office Room 601 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays.
Any person who would be aggrieved by the making of the said Orders may appear before the Court and make objections or representations thereto. Any person intending to attend the hearing of the application is requested to inform me, quoting Ref. L/ED/EVD2001/274, before the date of the hearing of their intention to appear.

Areas of highway situated in the eastern footway of Portland Street, Manchester comprising of:
(i) the triangular area at the back of footway of Portland Street from a point approximately 0.4 metres south of the back of the southern footway of Sackville Street for approximately 0.9 metres in a southerly direction with a maximum width of approximately 0.4 metres at a point approximately 0.8 metres south of Sackville Street and shown as “a” on the plan.
(ii) the area approximately 5 metres south of Sackville Street for a distance of approximately 1.2 metres north on its westerly side which is 3.238 metres west of the back of footway of Portland Street and for approximately 0.9 metres north on its eastern side which is 2.488 metres west of the back of footway of Portland Street. The area is approximately 0.75 metres wide and continues north eastwards for approximately 1.2 metres on the north west side and for approximately 0.9 metres on the south-east side and shown as “b” on the plan.
(iii) the rectangular area at a point approximately 7.83 metres south of Sackville Street and 2.418 metres west of the back of footway of Portland Street for a distance of approximately 1.2 metres in a southerly direction and with a width of approximately 0.75 metres and shown as “c” on the plan.
(iv) the rectangular area at a point approximately 10.43 metres south of Sackville Street and 2.400 metres west of the back of footway of Portland Street for a distance of approximately 1.2 metres in a southerly direction and with a width of approximately 0.75 metres and shown as “d” on the plan.
(v) the rectangular area at a point approximately 17.83 metres south of Sackville Street and 2.309 metres west of the back of footway of Portland Street for a distance of approximately 3.0 metres in a southerly direction and with a width of approximately 0.75 metres and shown as “e” on the plan.
(vi) the rectangular area at a point approximately 26.13 metres south of Sackville Street and 2.220 metres west of the back of footway of Portland Street for a distance of approximately 3.0 metres in a southerly direction and with a width of approximately 0.75 metres and shown as “f” on the plan.
(vii) the rectangular area at a point approximately 34.43 metres south of Sackville Street and 2.124 metres west of the back of footway of Portland Street for a distance of 3.0 metres in a southerly direction and with a width of approximately 0.75 metres and shown as “g” on the plan.
(viii) the rectangular area at a point approximately 42.73 metres south of Sackville Street and 2.025 metres west of the back of footway of Portland Street for a distance of approximately 3.0 metres in a southerly direction and with a width of approximately 0.75 metres and shown as “h” on the plan.
(ix) the rectangular area at a point approximately 48.53 metres south of Sackville Street and 1.968 metres west of the back of footway of Portland Street for a distance of approximately 1.2 metres in a southerly direction and with a width of approximately 0.75 metres and shown as “i” on the plan.
