LOW FELL CONSERVATION AREA

Notice is hereby given that on 26th March 1999 the Council of the Metropolitan Borough of Gateshead designated as an area of special architectural or historic interest an area of Gateshead which will be known as Low Fell Conservation Area. The area is briefly described in the Schedule to this notice and a plan showing the area in detail can be inspected at the offices of the Director of Planning, Civic Centre, Regent Street, Gateshead, Monday to Thursday between 8.45 a.m. and 5 p.m. and Friday between 8.45 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. 2. Following this designation planning applictions which affect the character and appearance of the area will be advertised and public comments will be invited before a decision is made. The Council will implement a policy to conserve and improve the amenities of the area. Trees in the Conservation area are protected as if they were covered by a Tree Preservation Order and no trees can be cut down, topped, lopped or otherwise destroyed without the consent of the Local Planning Authority. 3. No building within the conservation area can be demolished without the consent of the Local Planning Authority. Advertisements are also subject to special controls in Conservation Areas. 4. Advice regarding all aspects of the Conservation Area is available from the Director of Planning, Civic Centre, Regent Street, Gateshead during normal office hours.
