NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR CONSENT FOR THE PURPOSES OF SECTION 88
Notice is hereby given in accordance with Schedule 10 of the above Act that an application
has been made to the Environment Agency by Severn Trent Water Limited for consent
to discharge secondary treated sewage effluent, storm sewage and sewage in an emergency
to the River Severn, at National Grid Reference SO 6911 0604 from Blakeney sewage
treatment works. The application is for six effluents which will all be discharged
from the same outfall.
The sewage works will consist of a low level pumping station followed by screens,
grit removal, a high level pumping station, two primary settlement tanks, an activated
sludge treatment plant and final settlement tanks. The Company have applied to discharge:
Storm sewage in excess of 340 litres per second and sewage in an emergency from the
low level pumping station;
Storm sewage in excess of 148 litres per second and sewage in an emergency from the
high level pumping station;
Storm sewage in excess of 87.3 litres per second after the primary tanks;
Treated sewage up to 3,753 cubic metres per day under dry weather flow conditions.
The sewage works will replace the existing Blakeney and Littledan sewage works. Littledan
sewage works will be closed when the works at Blakeney are completed.

in writing to the Team Leader, Water Quality Consents, at the Agency’s offices at
Riversmeet House, Newtown Industrial Estate, Northway Lane, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire
