NEW ROADS AND STREET WORKS ACT 1991 SECTION 58 NOTICE OF SUBSTANTIAL ROAD WORKS

1. Three months advance notice is hereby given that the London Borough of Tower Hamlets intends to carry out substantial road works. 2. The street in which these works will take place are: Spital Square, London E.1., from its junction with Folgate Street to the junction with Lamb Street. Works will be carried out to the eastern footway and kerbs. This will include the provision of street lighting columns. Folgate Street, London E.1., north footway from a point opposite Spital Square to Celia Blairman House. Elder Street, London E.1., western footway from the junction with Folgate Street to the junction with Commercial Street. 3. Work is expected to effect the area of footway and kerbs from the junction of Folgate Street and Spital Square to the junction of Spital Square with Lamb Street, in Folgate Street the area of northern footway and kerbs from a point opposite Spital Square to Celia Blairman House, and the area of western footway and kerbs in Elder Street from the junction with Folgate Street to the junction with Commercial Street. 4. Work is expected to commence on 23rd or 31st August 1999 (depending on the date of publication). 5. (a) The area of work will be defined as that area of Spital Square between the back-line of the eastern footway to the kerb-line junction with the carriageway, and for the full length between the junction with Folgate Street and the junction with Lamb Street; that area of Folgate Street between the backline of the northern footway to the kerb-line junction with the carriageway for the full length from a point opposite Spital Square to Celia Blairman House; that area of Elder Street between the back line of the western footway to the kerb-line junction with the carriageway for the full length between the junction with Folgate Street and the junction with Commercial Street. (b) The works notified will include complete reconstruction of the footway in Yorkstone paving and taking out and relaying of granite kerbstones renewing any kerbstones as found necessary, and the provision of lighting columns in Spital Square. 6. Subject to the exemptions in the Act and Regulations under it, no street works may be executed for a period of 12 months from completion of the works described in paragraph 5 without the consent of the said Highway Authority, which shall not be unreasonably withheld.
