THE A102(M) TRUNK ROAD (BLACKWALL TUNNEL SOUTHERN APPROACH ROAD, GREENWICH) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) NO. 3 ORDER 1999

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions hereby gives notice that he has made an Order, the effect of which will be to close the northbound and southern carriageways of the A102(M) Blackwall Tunnel Southern Approach Road between the Woolwich Road and Blackwall Lane junctions southbound carriageway between the A2203 Blackwall Lane off slip road and the A206 Woolwich Road on slip road, the northbound carriageway between the north bound access slip road from the A206 Woolwich Road and the north and south bound exit slip roads to the A206 Woolwich Road, to enable the erection of traffic signs and changes to the traffic management arrangements on the A102(M) main carriageways. The Order will come into force on Friday, 11th June 1999 and the restrictions shall apply when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed between 2200 hours and 0600 hours and every day until 0600 hours on Sunday, 27th June 1999. The north and southbound exit slip roads will not be closed simultaneously, nor will the northbound exit slip road be closed when the A102(M) main carriageway and northbound entry slip road from the A206 Woolwich Road are closed. Alternative Routes, Southbound During the closure of the A102(M) southbound carriageway, traffic will be diverted to leave the A102(M) via the exit slip road to Dreadnought Street, Bugsby’s Way, Horn Lane and the A206 Woolwich Road to rejoin the A102(M) along the southbound access slip road, from Woolwich Road. During the closure of the southbound exit slip road to the A206 Woolwich Road, traffic will continue southbound and exit at the “Sun in the Sands” A207 Shooters Hill Road roundabout and return to the A206 Woolwich Road using the A102(M) northbound carriageway. Northbound During the closure of the A102(M) northbound carriageway, traffic will be diverted to leave the A102(M) via the exit slip road to the A206 Woolwich Road Roundabout, Horn Lane, Bugsby’s Way and the A2203 Blackwall Lane to rejoin the A102(M) along the northbound access slip road from Blackwall Lane. Whilst the A102(M) northbound main carriageway is closed, traffic wishing to use the northbound access slip road from Woolwich Road onto the A102(M) northbound will use the same diversion route as northbound traffic diverted from the main carriageway. During the closure of the northbound exit slip road to the A206 Woolwich Road, traffic will continue along the A102(M) northbound carriageway exit slip road to Tunnel Avenue, along Ordnance Crescent and return to the A206 Woolwich Road using the southbound A102(M) carriageway.
