THE LEWISHAM LOCAL ROAD (A2 AND A20) RED ROUTE (BUS PRIORITY) TRAFFIC ORDER 1999 THE LEWISHAM LOCAL ROAD (A20) RED ROUTE (BUS PRIORITY) TRAFFIC ORDER 1999
Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Lewisham made the two above-mentioned Traffic Orders in accordance with the provisions of section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) on 26th April 1999. The Orders will come into force on 10th May 1999. The general nature and effect of the two orders will respectively be reconsolidation of bus lane provisions into revised model of order for existing with-flow bus lanes at: (1)(a) Lewisham Way (A20) south-west side, from approximately 65 metres north-west of Shardeloes Road, north-westward for 250 metres, north-westbound; and (b) Parkfield Road (A2) south-east side, south-westbound; both operating 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., Mondays to Fridays inclusive; (2)(a) Lewisham High Street (A20) north-east side, from approximately 30 metres north of Rennell Street (opposite) south-eastward for 135 metres, south-eastbound; and (b) Lewisham High Street (A20) north-east side, offside lane, from approximately 50 metres north-west of Lewis Grove south-eastward to Lewis Grove junction, south-eastbound (bus-only route); both operating at all times; prohibiting any vehicle from being in a bus lane or a bus-only route during its operational hours, unless a permitted or exempt vehicle. Offside bus lane at Lewisham High Street approaching Lewis Grove, item (2)(b) above, to be classed as a bus-only route, restricting its use to local buses only making the right turn into Lewis Grove (traffic movement already and separately prohibited to other vehicles). Permitted vehicles: in the bus lanes: buses, taxis, dial-a-ride and pedal cycles; in the bus-only route: local buses only. Exemptions from bus lane (but not bus-only route) restrictions include: picking up and setting down passengers, loading and unloading if not otherwise prohibited and crossing the bus lane for access to adjacent roads or accessways. Exemptions from bus lane and bus-only route restrictions include: local authority and utility company vehicles engaged on certain duties, any vehicle avoiding an accident, emergency service vehicles and anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform. A copy of the Orders and plans giving more detailed particulars of the measures, of the Orders revoked and of Lewisham Council’s statement of reasons for making the Orders can be inspected during a period of 6 weeks from the date the Order was made, during normal office hours at the offices of London Borough of Lewisham, One-Stop-Shop, Laurence House, Ground Floor, 1 Catford Road, London SE6 4RU. Any person wishing to question the validity of either Order or of any of their provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any requirement of that Act or of any Instrument or relevant regulation made under the Act has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the Order was made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.
