TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions hereby gives notice that he has made an Order under section 247 of the above Act entitled “The Stopping-up of Highways (County of Tyne and Wear) (No. 5) Order 1999” authorising the stopping-up of areas of highway at and in the vicinity of Hedworth Court, Hendon, Sunderland, to enable the development described in the Schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance with planning permission granted to The Dewjoc Partnership on behalf of the Director of Health and Housing, Sunderland City Council, by the Council of the City of Sunderland on 10th July 1998 under Ref. 98/00718/LAP. Copies of the Order may be obtained, free of charge, on application to the Secretary of State at the offices of the Director Planning, Environment and Transport, Government Office for the North East, Wellbar House, Gallowgate, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 4TD, (quoting GO-NE/98/5038/35/16) and may be inspected at all reasonable hours at the offices of the Council of the City of Sunderland, The Reception Desk, Third Floor, Civic Centre, Burdon Road, Sunderland SR2 7DN. Any person aggrieved by the Order and desiring to question the validity thereof, or of any provision contained therein, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the above Act or that any requirement of that Act or of any regulation made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks of 19th February 1999, apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order or of any provision contained therein. Schedule Planning permission is granted for the refurbishment of Hedworth Court with associated landscaping and external works. Development is to include the stopping-up of all purpose highway and footpaths through their change of use to footways, parking area and garden areas.
