NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR A LICENCE TO ABSTRACT WATER
Take notice that E C Brown & Sons of Wypemere Farm, Angle Bridge, Whittlesey, Peterborough,
Cambridgeshire PE7 2HQ, is applying to the Environment Agency for a licence to abstract
water from Whittlesey Dyke between National Grid References TL 290 995 and TL 292
955, TL 300 955 and TL 301 955, TL 343 937 and TL 355 936, TL 342 937 and TL 344 937,
at TL 339 939, the Twenty Foot River between TL 308 956 and TL 310 957, TL 318 963
and TL 321 966, Shaws Dyke between TL 344 937 and TL 328 923, the River Nene (Old
Course) between TL 355 936 and TL 359 942, drains of the March and Whittlesey IDB
between TL 344 944 and TL 352 946, TL 351 965 and TL 356 975, TL 354 970 and TL 362
969, TL 356 975 and TL 366 973, TL 321 966 and TL 324 959, TL 323 962 and TL 319 961,
a drain of White Fen DDC between TL 333 926 and TL 327 929, drains of Whittlesey 5th
IDB between TL 329 936 and TL 331 935, TL 311 946 and TL 324 939, TL 317 943 and TL
321 949, drains of Whittlesey IDB between TL 299 957 and TL 300 957, TL 304 959 and
TL 305 957, TL 310 957 and TL 309 961, TL 309 958 and TL 308 961, TL 305 961 and TL
311 961 at TL 300 961, at TL 301 961, drains of Hobbs Lot IDB between TF 388 021 and
TF 382 014, TF 386 014 and TF 395 021 all in the parishes of March, Whittlesey and
Elm, Fenland district, Cambridgeshire.
The proposal is to abstract 227 cubic metres per hour, 4,400 cubic metres per day
and up to 91,100 cubic metres between April and October each year for spray irrigation
purposes. There will be a compensatory discharge into Kings Dyke at TL 237 967 from
Must Farm Pit at rates of 4,840 cubic metres per day and up to 100,100 cubic metres
per annum. The application is to replace licence serial No. 6/33/53/S/647 which expired
on 30th September 1998 and there will be no extra demand on summer water resources.
A copy of the application and any map, plan or other document submitted with it may
be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours at Wypemere Farm, Angle Bridge,
Whittlesey, between 24th December 1998 and 21st January 1999.
Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so
in writing to the Environment Agency, Anglian Region, Bromholme Lane, Brampton, Huntingdon
PE18 8NE, before the end of the said period.
