LONDON BOROUGH OF HACKNEY
The Hackney (20 m.p.h. Speed Limit) (Middleton Road Area) (No. 1) Order 1998
Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Hackney on 26th November 1998, made the above-mentioned Order under section 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by section 8 of and Part I of Schedule 5 to the Local Government Act 1985. The general effects of the Hackney (20 m.p.h. Speed Limit) (Middleton Road Area) (No. 1) Order 1998 will be, in accordance with the plan annexed to the Order create a permanent 20 m.p.h. speed zone in the area bounded by Richmond Road, Lansdowne Drive, Westgate Street, Mare Street, Broadway Market, Pownall Road and Queensbridge Road. The prohibition referred to in paragraph 2 above will not apply to vehicles being used for ambulance, fire brigade or police purposes in an emergency. the prohibition referred to in paragraph 2 above will not apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform, or anything done in accordance with any restriction or requirement indicated by traffic signs placed on the highway pursuant to section 66 or 67 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. In pursuance of section 10(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Servcie Manager (Land Use and Transportation) of the London Borough of Hackney, or some person authorised in that behalf by her, may if it appears to her or that person, essential in the interests of the expeditions, convenient or safe movement of traffic or for the preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which may road affected by the Order runs or suspend the Order or any provision thereof. A copy of the Order, which will come into force on 24th December 1998, and of the relevant documents can be inspected during normal office hours on Monday to Friday inclusive, until the expiration of a period of 6 weeks from the date of which this notice was made, in the Reception Area, London Borough of Hackney, Directorate of Regulatory Services, 161 City Road, London EC1V 1NR.
