Notice of application to vary a licence to abstract water
Notice is hereby given that an application is being made to the Environment Agency,
Thames Region, by Thames Water Utilities Ltd., Gainsborough House (RBH2), Manor Farm
Road, Reading, Berkshire RG2 0JN, for a licence to abstract water from the Thames
Tideway, at Western Pumping Station, Chelsea, National Grid Reference TQ 2864 7794.
The application is to retain the current licence which expires at the end of December
1998. The quantities applied for are 65,700 cubic metres per year, 180 cubic metres
per day, 15 cubic metres per hour. The water will be used to trial a small scale desalination
plant for a further year. There will be no increase to the amount of water that can
be abstracted. During this trial the product water will be used for irrigation purposes
or will be discharged to the sewer system.
A copy of the application and any map, plan or other document submitted with it
may be inspected, free of charge, at the Security Gates, Western Pumping Station,
124 Grosvenor Road, Chelsea, London, at all reasonable hours during the period beginning
on Friday, 18th September 1998 and ending on Monday, 19th October 1998.
Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so
in writing to the Abstraction Licensing Manager, Environment Agency—Thames Region,
Kings Meadow House, Kings Meadow Road, Reading, Berkshire RG1 8DQ, before the end
of the said period.
