Notice of application for a licence to abstract water
Take notice that Darby Methwold, of Banhams Farm, Methwold Hythe, Thetford, Norfolk IP26 4QT, is applying to the Environment Agency, Anglian Region for a licence to abstract water from the Cut-off Channel at National Grid Reference TL 7153 9584, at Hall Farm, in the parish of Methwold, in the district of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk, in the county of Norfolk. The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates: (a) 100 cubic metres per hour, 2,200 cubic metres per day and 136,364 cubic metres per year between 1st November and 31st March. The water will be used to fill a winter water storage reservoir for subsequent discharge into Watts Drain at National Grid Reference TL 7141 9547 and direct overhead spray irrigation of arable crops; (b) To re-abstract 150 cubic metres per hour, 3,300 cubic metres per day and 122,727 cubic metres per year from Southery and District Internal Drainage Board main drains and farm dykes at Banhams Farm and Hall Farm, in the parish of Methwold, in the district of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk, in the county of Norfolk, between 1st April and 31st October each year following compensatory discharges into the drains from the reservoir. The water will be used for overhead spray irrigation of arable crops. A copy of the application and map, plans or other documents submitted with it may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours at Banhams Farm, Methwold Hythe, Thetford, Norfolk IP26 4QT, between 11th September 1998 and 8th October 1998.
