LONDON BOROUGH OF LEWISHAM
The Lewisham Local Road (A21) Red Route (Bus Lanes) (No.  ) Traffic Order 1998

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Lewisham, in accordance with the provisions of section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended), proposes to make the traffic Order referred to above as part of Local Plan implementation in relation to the A21 Priority “Red” Route.
  The general effect of the Order would be to:

  (1) Extend the existing approximately 100 metre length of bus lane on the A21 Priority “Red” Route at Lewisham High Street opposite Lewisham Park. The new bus lane would be a northbound, with-flow bus lane running northward for approximately 220 metres from the new main entrance of Lewisham Hospital, operating hours: 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Mondays to Fridays inclusive;

  (2) Revoke the former GLC’s Lewisham (Bus Lanes) (No. 1) Traffic Order 1983, which gave effect to the existing bus lane and to another length in the part of Lewisham High Street, now a pedestrian priority area, north of its southern junction with Molesworth Street and no longer part of the A21.

  Exemptions from the bus lane restrictions include being in the bus lane for the carrying out of various statutory duties; any vehicle if obliged by law, in an emergency or to avoid an accident; fire brigade, ambulance or police vehicles; and anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform.
  A copy of the draft of the Order and of plans giving more detailed particulars of the measures, of the Order to be revoked and of the Councils’ statement of reasons for proposing to make the Order can be inspected during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays at London Borough of Lewisham One Stop Shop, Laurence House, Ground Floor, 1 Catford Road, London SE6 4RU.
  Any objection or other representation relating to the Order must be made in writing and must specify the grounds on which it is made and be sent to Lewisham Design Services, (Highways Development, Ref. P. Sear/R60.3), Laurence House, 2nd Floor, 1 Catford Road, London SE6 4RU, to arrive not later than 21 days from the date of publication of this notice.
