Notice of application for consent for the purposes of section 88
Notice is hereby given in accordance with Schedule 10 of the above Act that an application has been made to the Environment Agency by Severn Trent Water Limited, for the consent to discharge storm sewage and sewage in an emergency to a tributary of the Bow Brook at National Grid Reference SO 8780 5285 from Tanners Orchard Pumping Station, Whittington, Worcestershire. The Company have applied to discharge up to 7.78 litres per second of sewage in an emergency (0.36 litres per second under dry weather flow conditions) and a rainfall dependent volume of storm sewage consisting of flows in excess of 3 litres per second. A discharge to the receiving watercourse shall only be made when, and for as long as, a storage capacity of 15 cubic metres has been fully utilised. In addition, the pumping station will be provided with: (a) a high level telemetric alarm for pump and power failure; (b) a duty/standby pump (each with 3 litres/second capacity); (c) a facility to connect a mobile generator in the event of electrical failure. The facility will be constructed in order to pump the sewage from the village of Whittington to Powick sewage treatment works. Whittington is not currently served by a public sewerage system or treatment works. Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so in writing to the Area Consents Officer, at the Agency’s offices, at Riversmeet House, Newtown Industrial Estate, Northway Lane, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire GL20 8JG, during the period 10th August 1998 to 21st September 1998, quoting Ref. WA/LS/60791 A & B.
