Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, Section 69
East Coker Conservation Area
Notice is given, under the provision of the 1990 Act, that South Somerset District Council has determined that the area described in the Schedule to this notice is an area of special architectural or historic interest, and that it is desirable to preserve or enhance its character or appearance. It has accordingly extended the East Coker Conservation Area so as to include this area. Inclusion within a Conservation Area means that the buildings within the area may not be demolished without the consent of South Somerset District Council, notice must be given before works are carried out to any tree in the area, special publicity will be given to planning applications for development in the area and in carrying out any functions under the planning Acts, determining applications for planning permission or listed building consent the Council and the Secretary of State are required to take into account the desirability of preserving or enhancing the character or appearance of the area. A map of the Conservation Area may be inspected during normal office hours and further information regarding conservation areas may be obtained from the Area Planning Manager, Maltravers House, Petters Way, Yeovil.
