LONDON BOROUGHS OF LEWISHAM AND GREENWICH

The Lewisham (Prescribed Routes) (No.  ) Traffic Order 1998

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Lewisham, in accordance with the provisions of section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, (as amended) and with the consent of the London Borough of Greenwich, proposes to make the Traffic Order referred to above as part of Local Plan implementation in relation to the A2 Priority “Red” Route.   The general effect of the Order would be to:   (1) Close to all vehicles except pedal cycles (and statutory undertakers’ and Council vehicles in certain circumstances):       (a) Whitfield Road between Shooters Hill Road and Hare and Billet Road;       (b) Long Pond Road between Shooters Hill Road and Duke Humphrey Road;       (c) Duke Humphrey Road between Shooters Hill Road and Long Pond Road.   (2) Prohibit right turn from Shooters Hill Road into Wat Tyler Road.   (3) Impose mandatory left turn only from Wat Tyler Road into Shooters Hill Road.   The restrictions referred to above would further not apply to vehicles proceeding in accordance with requirements of traffic signs placed on the highway on behalf of the police, to fire authority, ambulance or police vehicles in an emergency or to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform.   A copy of the draft of the Order and of plans giving more detailed particulars of the measures and of the Councils’ statement of reasons for proposing to make the Order can be inspected during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays at: London Borough of Lewisham, One Stop Shop, Laurence House, Ground Floor, 1 Catford Road, London SE6 4RU, and London Borough of Greenwich, Development Services, Peggy Middleton House, 2nd Floor, 50 Woolwich New Road, London E18 6HQ.   Any objections or other representations relating to the Order must be made in writing and must specify the grounds on which it is made and be sent to Lewisham Design Services (Development and Support, Ref. P. Sear), Laurence House, 2nd Floor, 1 Catford Road, London SE6 4RU, to arrive not later than 21 days from the date of publication of this notice. D.
