LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON
(Free Parking Places) (Disabled Persons) (No. ) Traffic Order 1998
Provision of Disabled Persons Parking Places
Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Merton under the powers conferred by section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 propose to make the above-mentioned Order. The general effect of the Order will be to: (a) designate parking places in the roads listed on the Schedule to this notice in which vehicles authorised by the Order may be left for any period during the permitted hours without charge; (b) provide that the parking places will operate at all times; (c) specify, in respect of the parking places, that disabled persons’ vehicles displaying, in the relevant position, a disabled persons badge (commonly referred to as “the Orange Badge”) issued by any local authority under the provisions of the Disabled Persons (Badges for Motor Vehicles) Regulations 1975 (as amended) may be left therein; and (d) provide that certain vehicles may wait in the parking places in certain circumstances, e.g. to allow persons to board or alight (maximum 2 minutes), etc. Nothing in the Order shall apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform. A copy of the proposed Order, and of the Council’s statement of reasons for proposing to make the Order and a plan which indicates each length of road to which the Order relates can be inspected until 3rd July 1998 at the main reception, Merton Civic Centre, London Road, Morden, Surrey. Any person desiring to object to the proposed Order should send a statement in writing of their objections and the grounds thereof to Merton Legal Services at the Merton Civic Centre, London Road, Morden, Surrey SM4 5DX, quoting reference CS/JRP, no later than 3rd July 1998.
