The City of Westminster (Prescribed Routes) (No. 8) Traffic Order 1998

Notice is hereby given that the Westminster City Council, on 27th May 1998, made the above-mentioned Orders under sections 6, 45, 46, 49 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985.   The general effect of the Parking Place Order will be to re-locate a certain 2-hour metered parking place in Talbot Road.   The general effect of the Prescribed Routes Order will be to:   (a) prohibit vehicles proceeding in Talbot Road from making ‘U‘ turns at the western and eastern extremities of the central island site (constructed between a point 2.3 metres east of the eastern kerb-line of Bridstow Place and a point 9 metres east of the eastern kerb-line of Hereford Road);   (b) exempt cyclists from the compulsory left turn from Hereford Road into Talbot Road.   The general effect of the Waiting and Loading Restriction Order will be to further amend the City of Westminster (Waiting and Loading Restriction) Order 1976, so that in the lengths of streets specified in the Schedule to this notice, the hours during which the prohibition applies on:   (a) waiting by vehicles (other than for the purpose of delivering or collecting goods or loading or unloading a vehicle) will be changed so that it will apply at any time;   (b) waiting by vehicles for more than 20 minutes in the same place for the purpose of delivering or collecting goods or loading or unloading a vehicle will be changed so that it will apply between 11 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. throughout the week.   The Orders and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders are available for inspection between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday to Fridays inclusive at Hyder Consulting Ltd., Third Floor, 29 Bressenden Place, London SW1E 5DZ, until 8th July 1998.   The Parking Place Order will come into force for the placing of traffic signs etc. on 30th May 1998, and into force for all other purposes on 1st June 1998. The Waiting and Loading Order and the Prescribed Routes Order will come into force on 1st June 1998.   Any person desiring to question the validity of any of the Orders or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to any of the Orders may make application for the purpose to the High Court by 8th July 1998. Schedule

  Bridstow Place, between the southern kerb-line of Talbot Road and a point 9.3 metres south of that kerb-line.    Hereford Road :   (i) the east side, between the southern kerb-line of Talbot Road and a point 5.5 metres south of that kerb-line;   (ii) the west side, between the southern kerb-line of Talbot Road and a point 9.1 metres south of that kerb-line.    Talbot Road :   (i) between a point 9 metres east of the eastern kerb-line of Hereford Road and a point 5.7 metres west of the western kerb-line of Hereford Road;   (ii) between a point 7 metres east of the eastern kerb-line of Bridstow Place and a point 5.8 metres west of the western kerb-line of Bridstow Place. 28th May 1998.
