The Lewisham (Special Parking Area) (Grove Park Controlled Parking Zone) (Parking Places) (Amendment No. 1) Order 1998
(Downham Way)
Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Lewisham proposes to make the traffic Order mentioned in accordance with the provisions of sections 6, 45, 46 and 49 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) and sections 42 to 44 and 64 to 79 of the Road Traffic Act 1991. The general effect of the Order would be to amend the Lewisham (Special Parking Area) (Grove Park Controlled Parking Zone) (Parking Places) Order 1998 to introduce: (A) Residents’ only controlled parking in Downham Way between its junction with Northover and its junction with Reigate Road and Galahad Road, operating hours 8 a.m. to 6.30 p.m., Mondays to Saturdays, designating residents’ parking places: (i) west and north-west side between junction Northover and The Green, approximately minimum 38 vehicle spaces, parking on footway; (ii) north-west and north side between The Green and junction Reigate Road, approximately minimum 17 vehicle spaces, parking on footway; (iii) east and south-east side between junction Northover and No. 502, approximately minimum 19 vehicle spaces, parking on footway; (iv) south-east and south side between No.504 and junction Galahad Road, approximately minimum 60 vehicle spaces, on carriageway. (B) Parking charges as follows: (i) Permits for residents’ parking places (at (A) above) only: Residents’ parking permit: £25 per year; Concessionary (pensioners, disabled, solo motorcycle): £12.50 per year; Visitors’ parking permit: £2 per day; £5 per week; (ii) £40 penalty charge for parking violations (e.g. no permit correctly displayed in resident parking space, incorrectly parked in a parking place, contraventions of waiting and loading restrictions) to be paid within 28 days, discounted by 50 per cent. if paid within 14 days. Exemptions from the restrictions would include: picking up or setting down passengers at parking places; vehicles engaged in carrying out various statutory duties; stopping to avoid an accident; emergency service vehicles in an emergency; and anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform. A copy of the draft of the Order and of plans giving more detailed particulars of the proposals, of the Order being amended and of the Council’s statement of reasons for proposing to make the Order can be inspected during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive at the offices of Lewisham Design Services (Development and Support), Laurence House, 2nd Floor, 1 Catford Road, Catford, London SE6 4RU, (tel. 0181-695 6000, extn 8203). Any objection or representation relating to the Order must be made in writing and must include the grounds on which it is made and be sent to Lewisham Design Services (Development and Support) ref.
