The Croydon (Thornton Heath) (Parking Places) (No. 1) Order 1994 (Amendment No. 1) Order 1998
Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Croydon, on 20th April 1998, made the above-mentioned Traffic Order under sections 45, 46, 49 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985 and the Road Traffic Regulation (Parking) Act 1986. 2. The general effect of the Order would be to amend the Croydon (Thornton Heath) (Parking Places) (No. 1) Order 1994: (a) to designate new parking places in the lengths of streets specified in Schedules 1 and 2 to this notice at which charges may be made by the Council for the leaving of vehicles authorised by the Order; (b) to specify that passenger vehicles (with 12 seats or less), goods carrying vehicles, motor cycles and invalid carriages might be left in the parking places provided; (c) to provide that the parking places listed will be in operation between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Mondays to Saturdays inclusive except Christmas Day, Good Friday and Bank Holidays and will be controlled by means of “pay and display” parking with payment to a ticket parking meter or by the display of a valid parking permit; (d) to provide that at the parking places situated on the highways specified: (i) the charge for leaving a vehicle varies from 10p for 20 minutes up to 60p (maximum) for 2 hours (maximum); (ii) a vehicle displaying a valid parking permit, available from the London Borough of Croydon, may park for a period of up to 8 hours (maximum); Permits may be obtained at a cost of £25 per annum for Residents Parking Permits, £60 per annum for Business User Permits with an extra charge for additional vehicles registered up to a maximum of 3 per permit, £20 per quarter or £80 per annum for Season Ticket Permits (8 hour bays only) or £2.50 for a book of 5 Resident Visitor Permits, each permit remaining valid for use for a period of one year from the date of its issue. 3. The prohibitions and restrictions referred to in paragraph 2 above will not apply to: (a) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police officer in uniform; or (b) anything done in accordance with any restriction or requirement indicated by traffic signs placed on a highway by or on behalf of the Metropolitan Police. 4. A copy of the Order, which will come into operation on 27th April 1998, can be inspected during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive until the end of 6 weeks from the date on which the Order was made, at the Enquiry Counter, “One Stop” Facility, Taberner House, Park Lane, Croydon, Surrey. 5. Copies of the Order may be obtained from the Traffic and Highways Section of the Public Services and Works Department, Taberner House, Park Lane, Croydon, Surrey. 6. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained therein on the ground that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made thereunder have not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks of the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court. (28 bays) (b) the south-west side: (i) between a point 9 metres south-east of the south-eastern kerb-line of Oban Road and a point 12.70 metres north-west of the north-western kerb-line of Dunkeld Road. (3 bays) (ii) between a point 9 metres south-east of the south-eastern kerb-line of Dunkeld Road and a point 9 metres north-west of the north-western kerb-line of Bruce Road.
