LONDON BOROUGH OF TOWER HAMLETS

The Tower Hamlets (Prescribed Routes) (No.  ) Traffic Order 1998 Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, with the consent of the London Docklands Development Corporation as owner of the private roads known as Aspen Way and Canary Wharf North Bridge Access Road, propose to make the above-mentioned Order under section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by section 8 of, and Part 1 of Schedule 5, of the Local Government Act 1985.   The general effect of the Order will be to:   (a) regulate and control the safe movement of vehicles at the junction of Aspen Way and Canary Wharf North Bridge Access Road (hereinafter referred to as Canary Wharf N.B. Road) and on the immediate approaches thereto; and   (b) prohibit U-turning by vehicles proceeding in both the east and westbound directions on Aspen Way at its junction with Canary Wharf N. B. Road; and   (c) compel all vehicles proceeding eastbound on Aspen Way on reaching the junction with Canary Wharf N.B. Road to proceed straight ahead (i.e. vehicles will be prohibited from turning right from Aspen Way into Canary Wharf N.B. Road).   The prohibition referred to in the paragraph above will not apply in respect to fire brigade, ambulance or police vehicles in an emergency.   A copy of the proposed Order, a plan showing the junction scheme layout and the statement of reasons for proposing to make the Order can be inspected at the Council Offices (Traffic Section), Southern Grove, Mile End, London E3 4PN, by prior appointment and during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive until the expiration of a period of 21 days from the date on which this notice is published.   Further information may be obtained from the above address and any person desiring to object to the proposed Order should send a statement in writing of their objections and the grounds thereof, to the Assistant Director Street Services at the above address within the aforementioned period of 21 days.
