Notice of variation of Radio Paging (Standard) Licence

The Secretary of State hereby gives notice, pursuant to section 1(4) of the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1949, to holders of the Radio Paging (Standard) Licence (“the Licence”) that, with effect from 1st February 1998, each Licence shall be varied as follows:   1. Those frequencies specified in the schedule(s) to such licence between 26.2375 and 26.8655 MHz, 26.9780 and 27.2620 MHz, 49.0000 and 49.4125 MHz, and the frequency 49.4875 MHz, shall be replaced by the following frequencies:

  Licensees affected by this variation are permitted to use any of the above frequencies for one-way tone, numeric and/or alphanumeric paging. The use of speech is not permitted. Licensees are no longer required to inform the Radiocommunications Agency when they use the frequencies.   2. A new clause permitting the interconnection of paging systems with private and/or public telephone networks shall be added to the schedule(s): “The use of full Private (PBX/PABX) and Public (PSTN) Telephone Interconnect facilities is authorised on this service at all times. Equipment comprising the interconnect unit must be BABT approved.”   BABT is the British Approvals Board for Telecommunications. R.
