PLANNING APPLICATION - REFERENCE 06/00271/FULSU - FOR THE INSTALLATION OF 3 NO. 850 KW WIND TURBINES; CONSTRUCTION OF ACCESS ROAD AND HARDSTANDINGS; ERECTION OF ELECTRICAL SWITCHGEAR BUILDING WITH ASSOCIATED UNDERGROUND CABLING; IMPROVE/UPGRADE EXISTING ACCESS POINT FROM MELNESS/TONGUE PUBLIC ROAD; AT BLAR NAN LIAN, TALMINE, TONGUE (THE “MELNESS COMMUNITY WIND ENERGY PROJECT”)

SUBMISSION OF FURTHER INFORMATION - ARCHAEOLOGICAL SURVEY REPORT (DECEMBER 2006 UPDATE)

The Council has now received further supporting information in respect of the planning application for the development described above. The original application submitted in July 2006 is accompanied by an Environmental Statement.

The applicants are Melness Crofters Estate Ltd., Estate Office, Melness, Lairg, Sutherland IV27 4YP.

Copies of the further supporting information, together with the planning application and Environmental Statement, can be inspected during normal office hours at the following locations: –

1.  Area Planning and Building Standards Office, The Meadows, Dornoch

2.  Tongue Post Office

Copies of the original Environmental Statement may be purchased from Mr M Brennan, MCEL Development Co-ordinator, via Melness Crofters Estate Ltd., Estate Office, Melness (tel. 01847 611214) at a cost of £80 plus p&p (for a full paper set). A CD version is also available at a cost of £5 plus p&p. The updated Archaeological Survey Report is available at a cost of £20 plus p&p for a hard copy, and £5 plus p&p for a CD version.

A non-technical summary of the Environmental Statement is available free of charge from the Area Planning and Building Standards office.

The application is advertised under Section 34 of the above Act and as a potential departure from the provisions of the development plan, as well as being an application accompanied by an Environmental Statement.

Any person wishing to make representations to The Highland Council about the planning application and Environmental Statement should make them in writing to the Area Planning and Building Standards Manager, The Meadows, Dornoch, Sutherland IV25 3SG within a period of 28 days beginning with the date of this notice. For the avoidance of doubt, the closing date for representations will be 16 February 2007.
